We are developing a novel sunscreen formulation that makes chemical sunscreens safer for human and marine health.
EVERYONE NEEDS SUNSCREEN
Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States [1] and sunscreens protect us from harmful UV rays and premature aging [2].
THE PROBLEM
We have an array of sunscreens available to us, but their safety is now being questioned. The FDA has determined that for 12 of the most common sunscreen ingredients, there is insufficient data on whether they are “generally recognized as safe and effective" (GRASE).
These ingredients have been found to be associated with marine toxicity and absorption through the skin and into the human bloodstream with potentially toxic effects to our health.
OUR SOLUTION
Sunexis is developing a proprietary sunscreen formulation that renders those ingredients harmless to marine and human health.
The novel formulation eliminates those health concerns that may arise from absorption of chemicals into the bloodstream.
